Vadodara: A Lok Rakshak Dal (LRD) jawan of the Godhra taluka police station was nabbed red-handed while accepting a bribe while a head constable of the police station escaped during a trap laid by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to nab them in the Godhra state transport bus depot.
According to sources, Dinesh Damor, a head constable with the Godhra taluka police station, and LRD jawan Rajesh Taviad who was working with Damor had sought the bribe to ensure that the bootlegger got bail when he was arrested and was not harassed. Dahod and Taviad had made the demand when they met the friend of the bootlegger in the Godhra court complex. The duo had demanded Rs 15,000 in advance and Rs 2,000 on the arrest of the bootlegger. First part of the bribe was to be paid at the bus depot, but the bootlegger’s friend had informed the ACB in advance. ACB sleuths laid a trap to nab the two policemen, but Damor escaped while Taviad was arrested.tnn
