Speculations are rife that Apple may bid goodbye to TouchID in its entire 2018 iPhone lineup. FaceID is expected to replace TouchID in the upcoming iPhones. Last year, the company removed the feature from its tenth-anniversary iPhone, iPhone X.
Apple is also rumoured to be bidding adieu to Home button, the quintessential iPhone feature, from all its iPhones set to launch tomorrow (September 12). This is another feature that the company removed in iPhone X launched last year. However, the other two iPhones launched in 2017, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, sports Home button. No Home button also means, iPhone users will have to get used to new gesture language on their iPhones.
The removal of the TouchID sensor, which came back in 2013 with iPhone 5S, also means more screen estate. This also means the removal of bezels on top and bottom, something we have already seen with the last year’s iPhone X. All three are expected to come with bezel-less screens this year, or rather, tomorrow (September 12).
According to some rumours, Apple is likely to ditch the Lightning port and jump onto the USB Type-C bandwagon. Of course, there is no confirmation on this but we will know it all in less than 48 hours.
