Andhra Pradesh: 59 pc of Amaravati works in progress, says Chandrababu Naidu

AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday said that 59 per cent of the new capital Amaravati works are in progress and in various stages of completion while another 36 per cent works are in tender stage.
Participating in Short Discussion during Assembly, Chandrababu Naidu said that farmers have given him 33,000 acres of land for the capital city, while the World Bank is ready to release funds despite the conspiracies by the Opposition and non-cooperation by the central government. He said that people have reposed faith in his leadership after bifurcation. Construction of new capital, completion of Polavaram Project and other major issues for the new state were the responsibilities given to him by the people, he said, and asserted that he would complete them all against the evil designs of the Opposition and the BJP leadership.

He said that the Telugu people would challenge the BJP for its betrayal teach a lesson by completing these projects. He said people across the world were coming forward to stand by him in his mission, particularly in building the new capital Amaravati. He cited the over-subscription of the Amaravati Bonds as the peoples’ support for his work and reiterated that he would prove his critics wrong by completing all these projects on hand.

Referring to BJP president Amit Sah’s statement that Amaravati designs were still incomplete and pending with the Singapore, the chief minister asked the BJP leaders to open their eyes and see the reality. He had asked the BJP AP leaders to educate their party national leadership on the progress of the Amaravati works.

He said that the central government will get additional revenue of Rs 6,000 crore per year once Amaravati is completed and wondered why the government was not supporting now. He said he had the vision and the peoples’ support to build the new city as one of the five world cities. He recalled how he had built Cyberabad and made it a hub of knowledge in the undivided state and reiterated that Amaravati would be a global city soon.

Earlier, local MLA Tenali Sravan Kumar spoke highlighting the achievements of Amaravati city and its growth with the existing 29 villages as part of the capital. He wanted the chief minister to organize visits to the capital city for legislators and people to see the on-going development, on par with the visits to Polavaram Project.
