Inclement rain and wet course delays final round

Philadelphia: Inclement weather pushed the final round of the BMW Championship to Monday. The Aronimink course was wet and soggy and the officials are trying their best to have a full 72 holes, as a lot of rewards are on the line. The final 30 spots in the FedExCup Playoffs are available and those come with a lot of benefits, too. The officials are said to be even thinking of a Tuesday finish if required.

Yet, there does exist the possibility of the tournament might be over with 54-hole leader Justin Rose being declared the winner and the current top 30 in projected points moving on to the TOUR Championship. All depends on how long the course will take to dry up. According to the weather department there is possibility of play on Monday between approximately 8 a.m. to 2 pm ET. So, even if the final round is not completed on Monday, the PGA TOUR can extend to Tuesday if at least half the field can finish their rounds on Monday.

The final round is scheduled to start Monday at 7:30 am ET in threesomes off two tees. The lead group of Rose, Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele will tee off at 9:20 am. More than 3 inches of rain has hit the area this week due to remnants of Tropical Storm Gordon.

Making the field for Tour Championships brings with it rewards like invitations to big events and even Majors.
If the event ends here after third round, the 2015 FedExCup champ Jordan Spieth would finish 31st in the points and miss the TOUR Championship for the first time in his TOUR career.

If the 54-hole leaderboard stands, then Rose will win for the third time this season. He will move over to No. 2 spot in the FedExCup standings behind Bryson DeChambeau, who won the first two Playoffs events. Rose would also move to world No. 1 for the first time in his career.
