Vivekananda enhanced India’s prestige: Horatti

Dharwad: Swami Vivekananda enhanced the prestige of India with his spiritualism, idealism and nationalism, said Legislative Council chairman Basavaraj Horatti.
Speaking at a programme organized here by the district administration on Tuesday, to mark the 125th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s famous speech at Chicago, Horatti said Vivekananda’s life inspires confidence and determination. Hence steps should be taken to impart information to children through school curricula about his life and achievements.

Writer Harshavardhan Sheelavant delivered a special lecture on Vivekananda’s speech at Chicago and said the speech transformed a common man into a legendary.

Deputy commissioner Deepa said Vivekananda’s preaching was ever relevant and helped lead a healthy contented life.

Swami Vijayananda Saraswati of Shri Ramakrishna Vivekananda Ashram also addressed the gathering.

Earlier, Deepa flagged off a rally from Karnatak College in which students of various colleges took part.

The rally culminated at Vivekananda Circle. Swami Vijayananda Saraswati and Ravi Yaligar addressed the students.
