KOLKATA: Brace for traffic disruptions and clogged roads on Monday with the
Congress and the Left Front going for a bandh against high fuel price and depreciation of the Rupee. Both the LF and the Congress, along with Trinamool Congress will bring out protest rallies during the day.
Congress has called the bandh for six hours from 9am while Left Front has called a 12-hour bandh from 6am. Trinamool has expressed support on the issues, but said it was against a bandh.
Most schools and colleges have decided to remain open. Several schools have their midterm assessment exams slated on September 10. “Changing school examination and assessments routines will impact the academic calendar,” a senior school teacher said.

Kolkata, anyway, has seen its share of life-disrupting events over the last few days. Bandhs are unwelcome in the best of times. Right now, there can be no more irresponsible way of protesting.
The Left Front will hold several rallies on Monday. Two rallies, one from Entally and another from Hazra crossing, is expected to draw several hundred people.
The ruling party will also hold a rally in the afternoon from Moulali to protest the rising fuel prices and the falling Rupee, party secretary-general Partha Chatterjee said. The Congress is also expected to bring out several rallies.
Additional police personnel will be deployed to ensure there was no disruption or violence due to the bandh.
