The National Green Tribunal has directed the Central Pollution Control Board and the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board to conduct a joint inspection of a Parle Agro unit in the State to ascertain whether the unit is releasing mercury beyond the permissible limit.
A bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel directed the departments to submit a report before the tribunal.
The directions came while the green panel was hearing a plea moved by Parle Agro Private Ltd. against an order of the State pollution control board revoking consent granted to the unit.
The petition contended that previous inspection reports showed that the unit was complying with standards laid down.
