A special court on Sunday remanded two accused in the Nallasopara arms haul case to the custody of Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) till September 17.
On Saturday night, the ATS arrested Liladhar alias Vijay alias Bhaiyya Lodhi (32) and Vasudev Suryawanshi (29) in Jalgaon. Three crude bombs and other explosives, mobiles, four pen drives, and two number plates were recovered in Mr. Lodhi’s house. The agency also recovered one DVD, pocket diaries, mobile phones, pen drives, and explosives in Mr. Suryawanshi’s residence.
Forensic analysis likely
All the explosives were sent to the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad for examination. The squad needs time to send the explosives to the forensic science laboratory to find out whether they were used in Nashik and Jalgaon.
The accused were produced before Judge Vinod Padalkar on Sunday. The ATS counsel told the court that the duo were identifying people who spoke against the Hindu religion and were plotting to kill them. So the ATS needs their custody to find out who all were on the target list and wants to check if the accused were planning any terror activity in Jalgaon and Nashik. The agency also needs to know the source of the explosives.
Need for verification
The defence counsel said the number plates recovered need to be verified on whether or not they were used anywhere. The defence also said the ATS took both the accused into custody three days ago and this should be considered while deciding the numbers of days for remand.
