CHANDIGARH: Sunday was Congress rally day in Haryana as ex-CM
Bhupinder Singh Hooda and ex-ministers Randeep Singh Surjewala and Kiran Choudhry addressed three different events in teh state, attacking the BJP’s Manohar Lal Khattar-led government.
While, Hooda, who was in Pehowa, announced a ‘Sampoorna Kranti’ rally in December, Congress communications in-charge Surjewala held ‘Badlaav’ rally in Samalkha. Similarly, CLP leader Choudhry trained her guns at BJP governments at the Centre and the state and made inflation and law and order situation in Haryana, the main points in her public address in Kurukshetra.
Hooda, who launched the sixth phase of the Jankranti Yatra from Pehowa, said, “We will expose the complete failure of the BJP government in the state and also shape the future direction of politics. Till then, the Jankranti Yatra will be taken to cities, towns and villages, representing hopes and aspirations of people of the state.” He also said the Yatra would proceed through remaining assembly segments from September 17.
“The government wants to silence my voice by lodging false and fabricated cases against me. But I will keep raising issues with all my might,” Hooda said.
At Samalkha, Surjewala said Rs 11 lakh crore fuel loot has punctured a hole in the budget of the common man. “On 16 May, 2014, when the Congress demitted power, the international crude oil prices were as high as $108 per barrel in comparison to the present cost of $68. However, petrol prices have increased”.
He termed the BJP governments at the state and the Centre as the most anti-farmer government in the history of free India. He accused the BJP of betraying farmers, youth and the poor by not honouring its pre-poll promises of providing 50% profit on their farm production costs for their produces, 2 crore jobs to youth, bringing back ‘Rs 80 lakh crore of black money’ and putting Rs 15 lakh in each bank account.
“The BJP government imposed huge taxes on farmers, thereby increasing farm costs. Fertilisers, pesticides and farm implements earlier attracted 0% tax in most states but under the GST, the BJP government imposed huge taxes,” he added.
Choudhry addressed a public meeting organized by Subhash Pali, a loyalist of Choudhary’s father-in-law and ex-CM
Bansi Lal, in the grain market of Kurukshetra. Former Rajya Sabha MP Ishwar Singh, former MLAs Ram Kishan Fauji, Naresh Yadav and leaders from Bhiwani were also in attendance.
“The Modi government claims to have given gas connections to all households. Can anybody in the Centre or state provide details as to how many connections were given free of cost. The consumers were forced to pay, even extra in some cases,’’ said Choudhary while referring to problems being faced by the women folk. “They (PM and CM) are largely concerned about the welfare of ranks and cadres or capitalists. Else they would have given loan waivers to farmers then giving relief to their capitalist friends,” she added.
Choudhry flayed chief minister
Manohar Lal Khattar while asking those present to reciprocate to the contribution of former CM Bansi Lal and her late husband and former minister Surender Singh. “They both have lived and died for their workers and supporters. Now, we should make their dreams come true and weed out the BJP and INLD from Haryana,” she said.
