How wheat it is: WA farmer gets a wife thanks to 'croposal'
Love is in the air in WA's wheatbelt region, with a quirky proposal prompting a resounding 'yes' from the bride-to-be.
Peter Snell and Georgina Day have been together for more than three years after meeting in the South West.
A move to Peter's family farm saw the pair settle in Walebing, 20 kilometres from Moora, earlier this year.
On Saturday, Peter and his father spent five hours cutting canola to spell out the words 'MARRY ME' in a wheat crop.
The next day Peter asked Georgina to accompany him to pick up a vehicle that was stuck in a paddock.
The couple drove across the farm to the edge of a hill, where Georgina could see the proposal spelt
out.
"I was very shocked and obviously said yes," she said.
"I kept asking if I could call my mum and Pete said 'just wait until we get home'.
"When we got home my mum, dad, sister, brother-in-law and Pete's parents, sister and her partner were all there to surprise me.
"I bawled my eyes out at that point."
The pair have yet to set a date, but wedding bells are expected to chime some time next year.
