The mop-up counselling for vacant BDS seats in private self-financing colleges was completed around midnight on Sunday. Earlier, as many as 143 seats in the NRI quota were converted to the General category.
There were 154 NRI quota seats. While counselling for 609 BDS seats in were on offer during the two-day spot allotments, around 200 of them were filled by the end of the process on Saturday. The spot allotments to 66 MBBS seats and 10 government BDS seats had also been completed by Saturday noon. The allotments for the remaining BDS seats on Sunday began at 3 p.m. with the candidate in the 11086th rank being called first for counselling.
Registration
Prior to the counselling, the participants were asked to register to mark their attendance for the process. The registration procedure was intended to avoid delays between various rounds of allotments, officials sources said, pointing out that the allotments for the 10 BDS seats in government colleges had taken up to four hours a day ago owing to the problem.
Merit seats
Official sources said that all State merit MBBS seats in government colleges were allotted within the 994th rank. The State merit BDS seats in the government sector were filled within the 3,795th rank. State merit MBBS seats in self-financing colleges have been filled up to the 3781st rank as of yet.
While the Supreme Court has posted hearing in the case pertaining to the four private self-financing colleges in which admissions to 550 MBBS seats have been stayed, a separate round of mop-up counselling would be held at a later stage if the need arose, official sources said.
