Coimbatore: The city police on Monday arrested a 29-year-old pastor for raising slogans inside the Coimbatore district court premises against the Supreme Court verdict on decriminalizing consensual gay sex. He was identified as P Felix Jebasingh of Puliyakulam Church.
Jebasingh was seen raising slogans against the SC verdict around 10am, as soon as the court proceedings started for the day. Alerted by the commotion, police officers present in the court picked him up and rushed him to the court complex. When they were near the principal district judge’s room, the pastor barged into the room and started to raise slogans against homosexuality.

“Homosexuality is an evil against the God. If it is allowed, it would be a great sin. Jesus would come down to earth to punish the evil people, who decriminalized consensual gay sex,” the man shouted.

After advocates and other staff condemned his action, he was removed from the court room.

Meanwhile, the Race Course police reached the spot and took him to the police station for inquiry. Jebasingh is an advocate by profession, police sources said.

Police registered a cased against him for creating nuisance in the public place. He was later released on bail.
