Mamaearth, a mom and baby care brand, said it has raised $4 million in a Series A round funding led by Stellaris Ventures and Fireside Ventures. Consumer goods company Marico's Rishabh Mariwala, who manages Sharrp Ventures, and Snapdeal founders Kunal Bahl and Rohit Bansal, the start-up’s existing investors, also participated. Mamaearth said it would use the funds to expand its team, invest in product R&D and build retail presence, scale up their direct consumer reach, and build and brand awareness.

“We now want to build a strong offline presence as well as become a household name," said Mamaearth’s CEO and co-founder, Varun Alagh.

Founded by husband and wife duo Varun and Ghazal Alagh, Mamaearth said its products are free of harmful chemicals such as parabens, sulfates, and artificial fragrances.

“My wife and I have been using their products for our kids for a while now. We no more have to stock up on imported baby products every time we travel overseas," said Rishabh Mariwala of Sharrp Ventures.
