CPI(M) State secretary P. Madhu has demanded that the government reclaim the 186 acres of land encroached in Visakhapatnam district and initiate action against those who tampered with the relevant records.
In a press release on Saturday, Mr. Madhu pointed out that the scandal would not have happened without the collusion of a few officers in the Revenue Department.
It was the government’s responsibility to expose the culprits by disclosing the findings of the Special Investigation Team (SIT), he added.
Mr. Madhu said the lands assigned to Scheduled Castes and the poor were occupied in a meticulous manner as the government remained a mute spectator. The government should take punitive action on all those responsible.
“It is the duty of the State government to check whether there are any irregularities in the assigned land transactions not only in Visakhapatnam district but also across the State and take appropriate action against the fraudsters,” Mr. Madhu demanded.
