KANPUR: The
health condition of IPS man Surendra Kumar Das, who had allegedly consumed celphos at his official residence in Cantt area, has declined significantly over the last few hours.
"Despite best possible
medical support, the functioning of many of his vital organs continues to deteriorate. His condition is
extremely critical and unstable," said Regency Hospital sources.
"As supply of blood in one of his leg has stopped, we are in the process of conducting an emergency operation right now. He is on continuous monitoring and is being treated with best possible medical support. His response to the medical intervention over the next 16 hours will determine the prognosis," said Dr Rajesh Agarwal, chief medical superintendent, Regency Hospital.
SSP Anant Deo, meanwhile, said, "DGP OP Singh is all set to visit Regency Hospital in a short while to take note of the condition of Das."
Deo further said he had briefed the DGP on Das's health condition.
Many colleagues, childhood friends and relatives of Das had visited Regency Hospital since Wednesday, when he was admitted there for treatment.
