One shot, two injured in Nalanda district

BIHARSHARIF: A middle-aged man was shot dead and his brother was critically injured, while a youth was shot at and wounded after he tried to protect a woman who had lodged a police complaint for harassment of her daughter in Nalanda.
According to police, one Vishwamitra of Pendi village under Sarmera police station area used to verbally abuse wife of his cousin Prakash, who lived in his neighbourhood. On Thursday evening, Prakash warned Vishwamitra against it and asked him to respect the dignity of women. Taking his cousin’s advice as an insult, Vishwamitra entered into an argument with him and soon both took out guns and fired several rounds, in which Prakash received gun shot injuries and died before being taken to hospital, while his brother Ranjit was critically injured. One Pramod Kumar, a relative of Vishwamitra too sustained bullet injuries and both were sent to PMCH. A police officer, however, said there was no issue of harassment. The cousins had a long-standing property dispute and they fought over that.

In another incident, one Nakul Yadav of Kalyanpur locality under Biharsharif police station area pumped two bullets on a youth identified as one Nagina Prasad and critically injured him when he tried to protect a woman on Thursday.The woman had lodged a complaint of sexual harassment of her daughter against the attacker’s son Ravi Yadav. The victim, a resident of Bhikni village under Sare police station area lived in the woman’s house as tenant.
