TRICHY: In an initiative to encourage the citizens to keep the city clean, the
Trichy City Corporation (TCC) has identified 20 litter-free streets across the four zones of the city.
Tagged and identified as litter-free streets with signage boards at the very entrances of all 20 streets, Residents Welfare Association (RWA) of the respective streets are told to maintain and improve cleanliness and litter free status of these lanes.
The exercise is being done by the civic body to improve city's ranking in the Swachh Survekshan 2019.
Officials say that five streets in each of the four zones have been tagged.
“The tag litter-free street itself will serve as catalyst for residents to keep their neighbourhood clean. By branding 20 streets as litter free, residents and their welfare associations will understand their responsibility,” N Ravichandran, commissioner and special officer, Trichy Corporation told TOI.
