MUMBAI: The police investigating the missing case of a private bank senior executive,
Siddharth Sanghavi, has found there were three people in his car when it left his
Lower Parel office premises on Wednesday evening, sources said. The car, with bloodstains in the backseat, was found abandoned in
Kopar Khairane on Thursday.
Sources said there is no CCTV near the spot where Sanghavi (39), a
Malabar Hill resident, had left his car. A CCTV camera at the entrance captured his blue Maruti Ignis, with three people inside, leaving Kamala Mills through Gate No 4 on Pandurang Budhkar Marg around 7.55pm. He did not reach home after that.
An official said the images are not clear so it is difficult to identify who was driving and the other two persons in the car. “We are taking cyber experts’ help to enhance the resolution which would probably help us in identifying the occupants,’’ a senior official said. The CCTV camera had captured his car entering the Kamala Mills parking lot at 9.20am on Wednesday.
Another official said that they haven’t found the car passing through Vashi toll naka, the exit route to Navi Mumbai. “The CCTV cameras at other locations in Airoli and Thane are also being scanned,” the official added.
Meanwhile, police collected the blood samples of his parents to conduct a DNA test for comparison with the bloodstains found on the rear seat of Sanghavi’s car. Sanghavi’s car, found parked outside the compound of Shanti Heights in Kopar Khairane, has been taken to the Kalina Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for examinations. FSL experts are also trying to trace the fingerprints in the car.
There were reports that someone had sent a text message to Sanghavi but it was showing pending since his phone was switched off. However, the mobile phone was briefly switched on when the message was delivered on Thursday morning. This possibly helped the police to trace the car to Kopar Khairane. Based on this information, N M Joshi Marg police alerted Kopar Khairane police and asked them to locate Sanghavi’s car.
Police teams are also talking to some of Sanghavi’s colleagues to know more about him.
There are no CCTV cameras near the area where the car was found.
Sanghavi, who lives in a joint family with his wife, son, parents and grandparents, went missing on Wednesday.
Around a dozen team of investigators belonging to the N M Joshi Marg police station, crime branch unit II and unit III have been formed to trace Sanghavi.
Police teams are also talking to some of Sanghavi’s colleagues to know more about him. His call data record (CDR) is also being studied. His photo has been circulated among the police informants and police are using all the sources to locate the missing executive.
