A four-year-old boy died after an autorickshaw driver, suspected to be drunk, mowed him down in Ramanthapur on Saturday evening.
Uppal police said Mahith, along with his parents and a sibling, was walking towards their home when the auto driver lost control of his vehicle and hit him from behind.
“They were just a few metres away from home,” police said.
The accused, who was identified as Shiva (21), a resident of Vivekanandanagar in Ramanthapur was taken into custody.
T-Town designer’s death
A Tollywood costume designer on Friday was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his residence in Madhuranagar, while his wife and younger son were away on a pilgrimage to Tirumala.
The body of V. Jagdish (50) was found in his bedroom by his apartment neighbours on Friday night. SR Nagar police suspect he was addicted to alcohol.
“He suffered a head injury and died after heavy bleeding,” police said. A case under section 174 (suspicious death) of CrPC has been registered.
SCR officer trapped
The CBI arrested an assistant executive engineer of the railway electrification department of South Central Railway, Secunderabad, on graft charge.
Officials of the anti-corruption branch of CBI said N. Muralia, was trapped following a written complaint from a contractor alleging the officer demanded ₹ 20,000 for clearing his pending bill. “He was caught red-handed,” CBI officials said. The case is under active investigation, they said.
