The Students Federation of India (SFI) has claimed to have won a majority of students unions in colleges affiliated to Calicut University, elections to which were held recently.
Addressing a news conference here on Saturday, V.P. Sarath Prasad, State joint secretary, SFI, refuted the claim made by the Muslim Students Federation (MSF) that it had an edge over the SFI.
He said that of the 318 colleges where the elections were held, the organisation had won 196. Of the 397 elected University Union Councillors, 231 belonged to the SFI. Mr. Prasad alleged that the MSF had an understanding with student organisations espousing extremist ideology.
