Raid on pub at Indiranagar

Bengaluru police have filed a case against a pub in Indiranagar for allegedly serving alcohol to minors and for playing loud music on Saturday night. Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Ajai Hilori tweeted: ‘The pub, Bottle and Glass, on 100 Feet Road in Indiranagar was booked’. However, residents have pointed out that the same building has other establishments which also play music at high decibels, but no action was taken against them.

Drug peddlers arrested

In a separate incident, Koramangala police arrested five drug peddlers and recovered 2.5 kg of ganja. They are Shreyas G., 20, a native of Ballari and a student in Dayananda Sagar College in Kumar Swamy Layout; Juber Shafiulla Pasha, 32, of Annasandra Palya in HAL; S. Lakshman and A. Manikanta, both aged 23 and residents of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh; and S. Shivaprasad, 25, resident of Rajajinagar II stage.

A senior officer said that Shreyas had become addicted to drugs. He discontinued studies and started peddling drugs. He later joined a BBA course only to get contacts within the college to sell drugs.

Cop caught taking bribe

A police inspector was caught red-handed by the Anti Corruption Bureau while taking a bribe of ₹30,000 from a businessman on Saturday afternoon.

Inspector G.H. Munikrishna, attached to Banaswadi police station, and two others, including Head Constable Umesh, were arrested. Syed Ismail, who wanted to start a snooker club, tipped off the ACB after the inspector started harassing him demanding a bribe to sign a No Objection Certificate.
