Congress leader recalls TRS chief’s statements that separate polls were waste of resources

TPCC Chief Spokesperson Sravan Dasoju questioned the rationale behind TRS changing its stand on holding simultaneous polls and ridiculed party chief and caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s claim of sacrificing nine months of rule.

At a press conference here, he reminded that on July 6 this year, KCR submitted a representation to Law Commission Chairman B.S. Chowhan recommending ‘One State, One Election’ and two months later he dissolved the Assembly claiming political fragility as the reason.

Mr. Sravan also played a video clip of TRS MP Vinod Kumar wherein he explained KCR’s stand on simultaneous polls for Assembly and Lok Sabha. “It only shows the height of hypocrisy of the TRS chief,” he said, adding that KCR sacrificed people’s interest for his own political gains.

He also recalled various statements of KCR vouching for combined polls, arguing that separate polls were waste of time and resources. “So it is time KCR explains the reasons that forced him to impose early Assembly polls on people of Telangana,” he said.

He also claimed that KCR had sensed a humiliating defeat if elections are held on time, and feared the rising popularity of Congress among masses. “Just to avoid questioning by people on his failure to deliver on promises, KCR enacted the drama and dissolved the Assembly nine months ahead of schedule.”
