Facelifted MINI Clubman JCW Caught Testing Alongside The Toyota Supra

MINI is working on a facelifted Clubman and spy photographers have now snapped the upcoming John Coopers Works (JCW) variant.

Looking instantly recognizable, the updated model doesn’t stray far from the company’s familiar design philosophy as the styling changes are barely noticeable at first glance. However, a closer inspection reveals a modified grille and new headlights which are identical to those used on the facelifted Hatch.

The familiar styling continues out back, but the model has been equipped with new taillights that feature horizontal design elements. The model also appears to have a slightly revised rear bumper, but it’s hard to certain with the camouflage.

Interior changes should also be modest and, if the standard hatchback is any indication, we can expect a new three-spoke steering wheel and an updated MINI Connected system. The model could also be offered with several new options including an 8.8-inch touchscreen navigation system and a wireless smartphone charger.

Under the hood, we can expect a familiar a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder engine. There have been rumors about performance upgrades, but the engine currently develops 228 hp (170 kW / 231 PS) and 258 lb-ft (349 Nm) of torque. This enables the Clubman JCW ALL4 to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 6.0 seconds before hitting a top speed of 147 mph (236 km/h).

Those numbers aren’t too impressive these days and they’re certainly less than what the Toyota Supra will have. The model makes a cameo in several of the Clubman photos but, unfortunately, it’s still heavily camouflaged.
