BENGALURU: Over the years, there has been an increase in the use of alternative material for making eco-friendly Ganesha idols ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi.

This year, a cow shelter - ‘Sri Krishna Gau Seva Ashram Gaushala’ in Hennur main road of Doddagubbi, Bengaluru is helping devotees go green by selling Ganpati idols made from cow dung and cow urine.

Around 500 such idols have been created. It is said that these idols will provide the perfect answer to the hazardous materials used in Ganesha idols that are responsible for causing pollution.

These idols would also serve as a manure for plants after their immersion.
