GURUGRAM: Four days after the alleged
murder of a 48-year-old man in
Tajnagar village near Farrukhnagar, police on Thursday arrested one of the accused.
According to the police, the SUV in which Amarjeet’s body was found was registered in 32-year-old Karmpal’s name. Karmpal told police that the SUV belonged to Hari Prakash (26), son of Amarjeet and the prime accused in this case.
“I run a barber shop in Khwaspur and have been friends with Hari Prakash for some years now. Around 5.30am on Monday, Prakash called me up and asked me to drive the SUV to the fields. On reaching there, I saw Prakash along with two of his friends thrashing his father Amarjeet. Though I was standing at a distance, I saw an
axe being used to kill Amarjeet,” Karmpal said.
Karmpal identified one of the accused as Vijay, alias Bittu, a resident of Fazlipur village. “Karmpal has been arrested and we are questioning him. We will produce him in court tomorrow (Friday) and take him on remand. We got some vital clues and are hoping to nab the main accused and his accomplice soon,” said inspector Mukesh Kumar, SHO of Farrukhngaar police station.
Meanwhile, police investigation has revealed the murder was not impulsive but a well-planned act, and the accused had worked out everything, from how to commit the murder to how to destroy the evidence and make it look like an accident.
The post-mortem report has revealed that Amarjeet had been brutally thrashed, leading to over 20 wounds and several fractures.
Amarjeet’s mother, Rampiyari, alleged that the father and the son had been fighting over 5 acres of land, which might have been the trigger behind the murder. Following her statement, an FIR was registered against Prakash and his friends under sections 302 (murder) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC at Farrukhnagar police station.
