GURUGRAM:
Union minister and Gurugram MP
Rao Inderjit Singh on Thursday urged
MCG officials not to sit on files, and to act in a way that could help expedite work process. He was speaking at a meeting with
MCG councilors and officials that was organised in an attempt to expedite developmental work in the city.
“The councillors have told me that each time a file reaches the desk of an MCG official, he or she simply writes “please discuss” and the files keep moving from one table to another. I have directed officials to stop this practice and instead take the necessary action to fasten the process,” Inderjit said.
Inderjit also informed the councillors and officials that the MCG building being constructed in Vyapar Sadan would be ready by December. “We should make sure that continuous efforts are put in to carry our developmental work in all the wards. All wards should be given equal importance. Like ministers, the officials along with the councillors should meet the public on set days and time,” Inderjit said.
Emphasising on recharging groundwater, he said, “There is a need to focus on rain water harvesting and water conservation. According to a report of National Water Commission, Delhi will run out of water by 2020. As Gurugram is also in the dark zone, we need to immediately focus on this area.”
Regarding the IAF ammunition depot issue, the
MP asked officials to urge the high court to highlight the sorry state of affairs in the restricted areas, where people are being forced to live without basic amenities. Despite the state government’s instructions that spouses of councillors should not attend any official meeting, Thursday’s meeting found several councillors accompanied by their spouses.
