A one-day ‘Karnataka Health Summit-2018’ on ‘Universal Health Care – Opportunities and Challenges’ is being organised on September 9 (Sunday ) at Taj West End Hotel, Race Course Road, Bengaluru.
Eminent personalities, policy-makers and experts will deliberate and debate on health-related issues during the day-long summit hosted by the Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association (PHANA) – Karnataka.
Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara will inaugurate it. Health and Family Welfare Minister Shivananda Patil will be the chief guest. K. Sujatha Rao, IAS (retd.), will deliver the keynote address.
The summit is being held amid the backdrop of the Central government’s decision to implement the Universal Health Care policy, which has been discussed across the country at length by stakeholders of the health care delivery system.
The summit would focus on improving the health indicators and enhance health care delivery system in rural and urban areas.
Issues relating to increasing the budgetary outlay for the health sector, availability of skilled human resources in the delivery of health services, issues nagging private institutions in achieving the Central government’s goals, and advantages of IT in ensuring fast delivery of services would be discussed by experts.
The summit also would throw light on the Karnataka Government’s KPME Bill and health insurance, and overcoming the problems in providing the healthcare delivery system in the State.
Nagendra Swamy, Ms. K Sujath Rao, former Union Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, . Javed Akthar, Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Karnataka, C.N. Manjunath, Director, Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology, Dayananda Malenahalli, Director, JSS Hospital, Mysuru, and Mallesh Hullimani, President, KPMEA, will participate in a debate on ‘Universal Health Care - Opportunities and Challenges.’
S. Gaekwad, Nandakumar Jairam, Chairman, Columbia Hospitals-India, Alexander Thomas, President, AHPI, Prashanth N., neuro surgeon, and others will be in the panel discussion on ‘Private Hospitals – Current Concerns on KPME and Insurance,’ the release said.
