GREATER NOIDA: A 32-year-old man from Bisada village in Dadri was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly shooting at his father in an effort to frame his cousin in a fake case. The accused, Roop Singh, had a grouse against his cousin Kushal Pal and he is already facing trial for allegedly murdering Kushal Pal’s brother Master Manoj Singh in 2016.
According to police, they got a call from Roop Singh saying that his father was shot at in his thighs by a cousin Kushal Pal at around 12.30 am on Wednesday. He claimed that Kushal Pal entered their house at night holding a gun and shot at his 78-year-old father Hem Singh. However, when the police questioned his neighbours about the firing, they denied hearing any gunshots. Neither there was any sign of ruckus nor anyone saw Kushal Pal anywhere near the house. “It turned out that Roop Singh himself shot at his father using an illegal gun to frame Kushal Pal in the case,” said K K Rana, station house officer, Jarcha. The gun used in the crime was later seized from Roop Singh’s house. Roop Singh was arrested in 2016 for allegedly murdering his own cousin Master Manoj Singh, the brother of Kushal Pal.

“Roop Singh is facing trial for the murder of Manoj Singh. He wanted to escape the court hearing scheduled on Thursday. He was trying to frame his cousin in an attempt to turn the case in his favour and frame Kushal Pal,” said the SHO.
