VADODARA: Residents of Anandbaug Society in Tarsali were in a state of shock after a 26-year-old married woman was found murdered inside her house on Friday.
Victim Kunjal Panchal was found dead with her throat slit in the bedroom her house 382 by a relative at around 11.45 am. Police suspect someone known to the family is involved in the crime.

Kunjal’s husband, who runs a fabrication unit in Makarpura-GIDC, told police that she was alone at home as he was away at work and their two-year-old son Dhairya had gone to the play-school in the morning.

“Kunjal used to pick up Dhairya from school but when she did not reach for a long time, the school administration contacted her relative Rita. Rita, who also stays in Tarsali, immediately went to Kunjal’s home to inquire,” the police said.

When no one opened the door, she and some neighbours who gathered there entered the house from the rear door. “They saw Kunjal’s body on the bed in the bedroom and her throat was slit with a sharp weapon,” said H M Ramavat, Makarpura police inspector.

Kunjal had completed her primary teachers certificate (PTC) course after class X. She and Prateek got married five years ago and she lived here with her father-in-law and brother-in-law. Their house is located in the middle of the society but the neighbours didn’t see any unknown person entering,

Police has started investigation by trying to find out the regular visitors to the family. They are questioning her family members but they don’t suspect anyone. “We will ascertain the exact time of her death and find out if anyone apart from the family members visited. We are also trying to find out if there was family dispute,” said a police official.

All valuables intact

Vadodara: Initially, it was suspected that that some unidentified men had entered the house with an intention of burglary and they had killed Kunjal. But police ruled out the possibility as no valuables were missing from the house. “In fact, everything was intact and in their place when we went there. No unidentified men entered the house or committed any loot. Kunjal has been murdered for some other reason,” Ramavat told TOI.

No signs of struggle with assailant

Vadodara: Police sources said that the murder could be a handiwork of someone known to Kunjal or her family. “There are no signs of break-in and the assailant entered the house with Kunjal’s permission. There were not may signs of any struggle too when she was attacked and killed. It is possible that some insider may have killed her but we are still working to get more clues,” said Ramavat.
