The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh said it agreed with the Supreme Court verdict that
same-sex relations were not a crime but added that homosexuality was not normal and needed to be addressed at the social and psychological levels.
Reacting to the judgment,
RSS media chief Arun Kumar said same-sex marriages "are not compatible with norms of nature, so we do not support such relations". He said traditional Indian society didn't recognise such relations. A wary BJP did not issue any statement on the verdict.
Law minister
Ravi Shankar Prasad said the government's affidavit in the SC, which stated that it would not oppose pleas challenging
Section 377 on same-sex relations between consenting adults, was well thought out.
