Dassault Systemes to strengthen its presence in India

The spokesperson declined to share specific growth numbers of the company.
French global 3D experience major Dassault Systemes is looking to expand its capacity in India which is one of its major development centres. With over 2000 employees in India at present, the company counts India in one of its top three markets in Asia, said Olivier Ribet, Vice President at Dassault Systèmes while attending the company’s flagship event "3DEXPERIENCE Forum 2018" in Bengaluru.

At the event, the company also announced original equipment manufacturer (OEM) Ashok Leyland has become the first in India to adopt Global Validation, Proven Performance (GVPP) industry solution experience based on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform by Dassault Systemes.

In the next one year, the company is looking to expand its teams in Pune and Bengaluru R&D centres as it sees more demand coming in with companies digitizing in India. “Over the last two years, the demand in India has spiked up largely. The major demand that we see is from defence, transportation and mobility. But overall, the market is so huge. SMEs and startups is another area where we are seeing an increasing demand these days,” adds Ribet.

He also adds, “In India, engineering foundation is very strong and the talent here has multiple skillsets which is not seen in other countries. It benefits us in many ways to expand our workforce here. Sweden and India is combining three things successfully; technologies, retrain and educate, transform your processes. This puts them ahead of the curve.”

The spokesperson declined to share specific growth numbers of the company.

Further, the company is also scouting for acquisitions in 'scientific innovation' space. Earlier in January this year, the MNC had announced its Global Entrepreneur Program to accelerate the development of innovations by start-ups, entrepreneurs and makers. In India, the company is looking for innovative ‘hybrid’ ideas which build new products with blend of technologies and will be looking to invest as well as mentor these startups.

According to the market intelligence solutions firm 6Wresearch, India's 3D printer prototyping and materials market is projected to reach over $62 million by 2022 with several startups entering into the niche segment. Further, the research says that in terms of materials, India has the highest demand for for Polyactic Acid (PLA) and Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) -- two of the most standard plastic 3D printing materials which makes India a potential market for 3D printing in the future.
