Kancharla Bhupal Reddy offered party ticket

Kancharla Bhupal Reddy, the independent candidate who was runner-up in the 2014 elections for Nalgonda constituency, is the Telangana Rashtra Samithi’s MLA candidate here, according to the list of 105 candidates revealed by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday.

He had lost to the constituency’s four-time MLA from the Congress, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, by a margin of 10, 547 votes.

Mr. Reddy, belonging to the Telugu Desam Party since his youth, joined the TRS last November, and since then functioned as the party’s in-charge for Nalgonda.

“I feel lucky and happy for being offered the ticket. Decades of sincere work that I had put in the TDP never earned me such recognition,” he said.

A fresh face for the TRS in Nalgonda, Mr. Reddy expressed confidence over winning the contest.

All the sitting MLAs in the rest of the constituencies were offered tickets, However, tickets for Huzurnagar and Kodad in Suryapet district are yet to be declared.

They are presently held by Telangana Pradesh Congress president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and his wife N. Padmavathi respectively.

None of the Non-Resident Indians, in at least three of the total 12 constituencies, aspiring for an MLA ticket found their name in the Thursday’s list of 105.
