State government has announced incentives for the revival of the sick unit of Ballarpur Industries Ltd (BILT) near Kamalapur in Jayashankar Bhupalapally district.
The Industries Department issued orders announcing five types of incentives. Hailing the decision, workers of BILT met Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Kadiyam Srihari and thanked him.
The industry had been closed in April, 2014 before the formation of the Telangana State. As part of the incentives announced, government agreed to clear BILT payments such as pending power bills, taxes and Forest Department arrears in instalments.
Plant modernisation
The company would invest and additional ₹125 crore towards modernisation of the plant and machinery. With the revival of the company, hundreds of families from the tribal areas of Jayashankar Bhupalapally district would be benefited. When it was functional, the company had provided direct employment to 750 employees and indirect employment to several hundreds. All these people were expected to be employed with the revival of the company.
Industries Minister K.T.Rama Rao said besides encouraging reputed companies to establish their units in Telangana, State government was equally determined to revive sick industries in the State. The government also revived sick industries like Ramagundam Fertilizers, Sirpur Kagaznagar Paper Mills in the recent past.
They recalled the role played by the Deputy Chief Minister in personally learning about the hardships of workers and ensuring payment of their wages and holding several rounds of talks with the management for reviving the industry.
The workers also met Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao and Industries Minister K.T.Ramarao and thanked them both.
Local MLA
Earlier in the day, State Tribal Welfare and Tourism and Culture Minister Ajmeera Chandulal announced in a press conference in his chambers that the government announced incentives worth ₹350 crore for the revival of BILT.
Thanking the Chief Minister, Mr.Chandulal said that with the support given by the government, the revival measures would be started soon. He also thanked Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari and Industries Minister K.T. Rama Rao.
