A day after a 16-year-old boy was lynched in north-west Delhi’s Mukundpur, the four accused, who were absconding, were arrested the police said on Wednesday. Two other accused were already arrested.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West) Aslam Khan confirmed that the absconding accused identified as Triveni, Deshraj, Sohan Lal and Sant Lal were arrested late on Wednesday. Triveni is the brother of Nand Kishore and Raj Kishore, who were arrested on Tuesday.
Sources said that the accused were arrested after teams conducted raids at their suspected hideouts. “During investigation, it was revealed that the accused thrashed the boy with a wooden plank after tying him with a piece of cloth,” said a senior police officer.
The accused told investigators that the boy was on the terrace of Kishore’s house. He had allegedly come to commit a theft after which they called three neighbours and thrashed the victim to death. The victim’s bruised body was found dumped outside the accused’s residence.
Victim’s family upset
The victim’s family has expressed dissatisfaction over the Sections of the Indian Penal Code slapped in against the accused in the case.
“It is a brutal murder but they have registered a case on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. We do not know why,” the victim’s father said.
