For a few mall-goers in Noida, an outing with their families turned into a power-packed dance session as they joined over 100 participants in a
zumba session organised at a mall in
Sector 18. The session was organised to raise funds for
Kerala flood victims. Prateek Kundial, a zumba
instructor, said, “The zumba community has come together a lot of times in the past for fundraising events, and we are happy to a part of this session. This show was special as over 22 zumba instructors from Noida participated in it. Apart from the money that we raised through this event, we are sending basic items like food, clothes and toothpaste for the Kerala
relief fund.”
Niyati Tokas, a zumba education specialist, said, “We are doing our best to collect funds for the people of Kerala. With so many trainers present, the show was filled with energy. And not just the participants, we too enjoyed the show a lot.”

For zumba trainers, such events offer a chance to meet and share their skills with other instructors. Mehzabeen Naz, a Noida-based zumba instructor, said, “All the trainers who took part in the event tried roping in their students for the event. It feels good that we can use our skills to raise funds for the flood-affected region. Since we all remain busy in our lives, it gets really difficult to meet fellow trainers of the city but events like these help us meet and build our network. It is also a great platform to share our skills.”
The participants got a chance to do zumba with not just one but 22 instructors. Chehak Jairatj, a resident of Sector 104, said, “The event was filled with energy. All the zumba instructors took turns to come on stage. They all made us dance to different songs and they didn’t stop for the first half-an-hour. When you dance with such a big group, you don’t feel tired. I love attending such events.”
Anika Bahad, a seven-year-old resident of Sector 37, who performed zumba with her instructor on stage, said, “My mom introduced me to zumba and I am doing it for the past two years. I don’t find it tiring at all as I love dancing.”
