HYDERABAD: Days after his Pragathi Nivedana Sabha public meeting at Kongara Kalan near Hyderabad, chief minister and TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao is all set to hit a whirlwind campaign trail by addressing 100 public meetings in 100 constituencies in 50 days. The CM will address the first such public meeting, dubbed ‘Prajala Ashirwada Sabha’, in Husnabad Assembly constituency in Karimnagar district on September 7, which, TRS leaders claimed, will be attended by 50,000 people. It is learnt that KCR was also planning to announce the names of candidates for some constituencies.

Finance minister Eatala Rajender said here on Tuesday that KCR is coming to seek the blessings of the people and added that a campaign plan has already been chalked out for the TRS chief. “We are happy that KCR has chosen to kick off his campaign from Husnabad in Karimnagar. This will ensure victory for the party because people want to see KCR as chief minister again,” Rajender said.

The public meeting will be held near the Husnabad town bus depot at 2pm. In response to a specific question, Rajender said 50,000 people are expected to attend the public meeting.

It appears that senior TRS leaders are playing safe on boasting about crowd attendance lest it falls short of the expectations on the day of the meeting. Billed as ‘mother of all meetings’ in India with TRS boasting a turnout of 25 lakhs, the Kongara Kalan meeting, however, drew not more than four lakh crowd despite all the hype associated with the September 2 meeting.

TRS leaders said the Kongara Kalan public meeting held on September 2 was for the entire state, future meetings will be constituency-specific. Rajender, irrigation minister T Harish Rao, Karimnagar MP B Vinod Kumar and senior party leaders met in Siddipet on Tuesday to chalk out a plan for Friday’s meeting.

“During his address at Husnabad, sitting MLA V Sathish Kumar will be announced as party’s nominee again,” he said.
