Forte publishes findings from recent survey on the impact of technology on clinical trial operations.

MADISON, Wis. (PRWEB) September 05, 2018

Forte, an industry-leading developer of specialized clinical research solutions, released the 2018 State of Technology in Clinical Research Report with findings from their recent industry survey. This free report takes a look at the key factors that influence the success of technology at organizations, as reported by over 800 survey participants.

Forte received survey responses from individuals across the country that work for a variety of organizations, including research sites, academic medical centers (AMCs), Cancer Centers, health systems, sponsors, contract research organizations (CROs) and more. Through this project, they gained insight into the necessary steps organizations should take to see more value from their research systems.

Technology’s impact on clinical research

In the report, Forte examines the industry’s relationship with technology to discover what efficiencies have already been created and where there is potential for improvement. Survey results show that technology plays a critical role in clinical trial workflows, with many respondents noting they use five or more systems on at least a daily basis.

However, respondents also identified a number of factors that influence how comfortable they feel using research systems. For example, one survey participant stated “Training and support are big factors in our success of utilizing new or current technologies. It gives us peace of mind so we can focus on our work and patients.”

While some organizations understand training is a critical part of system success, many do not put adequate emphasis on continuing education to ensure end users are using the systems effectively. In addition, respondents identified multiple other factors they believe significantly impact the success of systems at their organizations, including organizational data quality, system functionality, internal communication and more.

Forte’s Senior Vice President of Products and Quality, James Wurdeman, notes the company takes these factors into consideration when working with its customers. “At Forte, we understand that technology is only part of what makes a clinical research organization successful, which is why we work with our customers to align their people, processes and technology to ensure they see the most value from their research technology.”

Though respondents recognized the need for improvement in system implementation and use at their organizations, they were overwhelmingly positive about the impact technology has on their individual and organization-wide clinical trial workflows. One survey participant noted “I’m able to accomplish more tasks completely with technology. There are no more lost pages, unfiled reports, or partially completed documents hiding in a binder. My workspace is neater and more organized which leads to less distraction. And, most importantly, I believe ALCOA is followed more completely, especially the Legible and Attributable parts.”
