NAGPUR: The Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) on Tuesday demolished two illegal religious structures in South Nagpur. The two temples razed were very famous among the devotees and large in size.
Following orders of the Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court, the NIT has continued demolition of illegal religious structures identified by the
Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC).
Under the guidance of NIT chairman Ashwin Mudgal and superintending engineer Sunil Gujjelwar, the NIT team led by divisional officer of South division Sanjay Chimurkar,
Avinash Badge, Sandip Raut, Manohar Patil and others demolished Jagrut Hanuman mandir at Sanjay Gandhi Nagar, Chikhli (khurd) and Santoshi Mata Mandir at Rameshwari square, Babulkheda.
Till date, the NIT has demolished over 195 illegal religious structures. The NMC has razed around 256 for a total of around 451.
