Ludhiana: Teen killed over 'friendship' with girl, one held

LUDHIANA: Police on Wednesday arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly killing a 19-year-old boy of his locality while two of his accomplices are absconding.

According to the police, the accused first stabbed the teenager and then crushed his head with stones on Tuesday. Police said that the boy was killed over his 'friendship' with a girl.

Police said that a commuter saw the body of the boy in the forest area of Koom in the wee hours of Wednesday and informed the police.

The deceased has been identified as Parvesh Alam, who hails from Uttar Pradesh but was living with his parents in Mangarh area of Koomkalan.

The youngster was killed by three men of the same locality identified as Monu Singh and brothers Sameer and Shahabudeen, all aged between 22 to 24 years.

According to the police, the accused and the deceased had a tiff on Monday during Janamashtami celebrations. However, with the intervention of local residents, the fight was ended.

Mustafa Ansari, the father of deceased, said: "After the fight during which the accused threatened Parvesh with dire consequences, Parvesh came home for a while and then again went for Janamashtami celebrations. In morning when I woke up, I could not find him anywhere. We started looking for him around the area but to no avail. Later, someone saw his body in the forest area. He was identified as some residents saw him with the trio after the Janamashtami function."

Further, Ansari said that a week ago, his wife and the mother of accused brother duo, who live in the same labour quarters, had an argument. That time too, the duo had threatened with his wife.

Koomkalan SHO Harjinder Singh told that Alam was first stabbed with a knife in his stomach and neck. When he fell down, the accused hit his head with heavy repetitively.

Singh added that Monu Singh has been arrested and he has confessed to the crime.

While revealing the motive of the murder, additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP-IV) Rajveer Singh Boparai said that the accused and the victim had fought over friendship with a girl during Janamashtami celebrations. A few days ago, the accused trio saw Parvesh with the girl. They also wanted to be friends with her. On this issue they had a fight and it became a reason behind Parvesh's brutal murder.
