The State government has given administrative nod for the excavation of a link canal from Flood Flow Canal (FFC) to Kakatiya Canal for supplementation of water to the ayacut under distributaries 70 to 94 of the Sriramasagar project.
According to the orders issued on Tuesday by Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi, who also handles the Irrigation Department, the link canal would be constructed with a cost of ₹ 36.82 crore.
It would take off at km 88.400 of FCC and join Kakatiya Canal at its km 97.460.
The 3-km link canal is planned to stabilise about 2.51 lakh acres ayacut under 25 distributaries of Kakatiya Canal.
