Lucknow cops foil bid to kidnap businessman

LUCKNOW: In a major breakthrough, Gomtinagar police arrested five miscreants while they were trying to kidnap a businessman on late Sunday night.
The accused, identified as Mukesh, Vikas Singh, Dev Prakash, Vimal Kumar, and Amit Singh, all natives of Lucknow, were arrested near CMS in Gomtinagar while they were trying to scale the wall of a businessman's house.

Police also seized a huge cache of arms, including automatic pistols, from them. Staff on a patrolling vehicle of Gomtinagar police had spotted the accused scaling the boundary.

ASP (Gomtinagar) Chakresh Mishra said, "The accused had sold a plot land in Chinhat to the businessman few months ago. However, after paying half the amount, the businessman stopped the payment of cheques and did not respond to calls."

Mukesh and his aides hatched a plan to get even with the businessman. They recced the businessman's house for over a week and got to know that he stays alone on Sunday. They arranged weapons and tried to kidnap him on Sunday night, said police.

Their allegations against the businessman are also being probed, said ASP Mishra.
