Mobile phone snatcher stabs man

Coimbatore: The city police on Wednesday arrested a 23-year-old man for attempting to murder a 22-year-old man, who resisted attempts to snatch his mobile phone near SIHS Colony in Singanallur on Tuesday. He was identified as V Prasanth, a school dropout from Varadharajapuram.
The victim, V Tamilarasan, is undergoing treatment at the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) for stab injuries. “On Tuesday night, Tamilarasan was talking over phone while walking to his home. Two people on a two-wheeler attempted to snatch the phone. When he resisted, the pillion rider stabbed him on his stomach with a knife,” a police officer said.

Singanallur police registered a case under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the India Penal Code (IPC) and remanded Prasanth in judicial custody.
