From new sites for Mohalla Clinics to installation of CCTV cameras, projects that had been pending for some time have been sped up by the Delhi government after the Supreme Court gave its verdict on the powers of the elected government vis-a-vis the L-G on July 4.
Officials in the Aam Aadmi Party dispensation said on Tuesday that the past 60 days had seen several projects being pushed.
“In over three years, we were able to give the city a total of 180 Mohalla Clinics, including some that are functioning from rented accommodation. The number of sites identified in three years had been around 100. But, after July 4, in about 25 days, around 600 new sites were identified,” a government spokesperson said.
Apart from Mohalla Clinics, for which Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been taking review meetings, the AAP government has also pushed the installation of CCTV cameras, which is likely to start in about three months.
The Chief Minister’s Office revealed that 53, 23 and 21 meetings have been held to discuss Delhi Jal Board, Health Department and Education Department projects respectively.
