Share market update: Nifty Realty top sectoral loser; Unitech, DLF among top losers
Coal India, Indiabulls Housing Finance, ONGC, Bharti Infratel and Zee Entertainment Enterprises were among the top losers in the Nifty index.
NEW DELHI: The realty index was trading as the top sectoral loser on NSE during Wednesday's session.

The Nifty Realty index was trading 2.03 per cent down at 262 around 11:35 am with all components in the red.

The realty stocks have been falling in the wake of a Supreme Court order that directed a ban of all construction activities in the states of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Union Territory of Chandigarh unless a solid waste management policy was in place.

Shares of Unitech (down 6.58 per cent) were the top losers in the realty pack, followed by Phoenix Mills (down 2.89 per cent), Oberoi Realty (down 2.77 per cent), Godrej Properties (down 2.68 per cent), Brigade Enterprises (down 2.24 per cent) and DLF (down 2.13 per cent).

Prestige Estates Projects (down 1.54 per cent), Sobha (down 1.37 per cent), Indiabulls Real Estate (down 1.11 per cent) and Housing Development & Infrastructure (HDIL) (down 0.76 per cent) declined in that order.

Benchmark Sensex and Nifty fell amid weak global cues and rupee's fresh fall. The rupee has plunged over 10 per cent this year so far.

The NSE Nifty50 index was down 42 points at 11,478, while the BSE Sensex was 114 points down at 38044.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 14 were trading in the green, while 36 were in the red.

YES Bank, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Tech Mahindra, UPL and ITC were among the top gainers in the Nifty index.

On the other hand, Coal India, Indiabulls Housing Finance, ONGC, Bharti Infratel and Zee Entertainment Enterprises were among the top losers in the Nifty index.
