Xiaomi Redmi 6A, Redmi 6, Redmi 6 Pro India launch Highlights: Redmi 6 series launched, here are the prices

Redmi 6 has a 5.45-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone supports dual SIM slots along with a dedicated microSD card slot. It gets 12MP+5MP dual rear cameras with AI Portrait feature. The 5MP selfie shooter also supports face unlock features, which the company says is powered by AI.

Under the hood, Redmi 6 packs an octa-core Helio P22 processor，which can be clocked at up to 2.0GHz. It features 3GB/4Gb RAM with 32GB/64GB storage. The internal space is expandable up to 256GB via microSD card. The battery on Redmi 6 is a 3,000mAh one. The phone will be available in rose gold, blue, black, and gold colour options.

Redmi 6 Pro gets a 5.84-inch FHD display with an aspect ratio of 19:9 and a notch on top. The phone features dual rear cameras, a combination of 12MP and 5MP sensors that support AI features like AI Portrait mode. The front camera is 5MP that comes with AI face unlock feature.

Redmi 6 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, coupled with Adreno 506 for graphics performance. It will be available in 3GB RAM 32GB storage and 4GB RAM 64GB storage models. Xiaomi is promising two days of life on Redmi 6 Pro, thanks to a 4,000mAh battery. The phone can be bought in red, blue, black, and gold colour options.

HDFC debit and credit card buyers, as well as those buying Redmi 6 on EMI transaction, can avail Rs 500 off. Do note the offer will be valid for the first sale only, which will be held on September 10 on Flipkart.

Redmi 6 Pro will cost Rs 10,999, and the sale on Mi.com and Amazon India will begin from 12 PM on September 11. The higher-end 4GB RAM+64GB storage variant of Redmi 6 Pro is priced at Rs 12,999. The phone will soon be available in Mi Homes and via offline partners.

Redmi 6 will cost Rs 7,999 for base storage model with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal space. The 3GB RAM and 64GB storage model of Redmi 6 will cost Rs 9,499. Redmi 6 is Flipkart exclusive and sale begins September 10.

Redmi 6A with 2GB RAM/16GB internal storage will cost Rs 5,999. This is an introductory price valid for first two months, and could change in the future given the current currency fluctuations. The 2GB RAM with 32GB storage will cost Rs 6,999, again for the introductory pricing.

The battery on Redmi 6 Pro is a 4,000mAh one. The company is promising two days of battery life. The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor.

Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro will also be available in red colour option. The company recently launched a red colour option for Redmi Note 5 Pro as well.

The processor on the Redmi 6 is the Helio P22, which has a smaller 12nm FinFET design. This is an eight core processor, clocked at 2.0Ghz. The company is claiming 30 per cent improvement over the previous generation. The phone supports AI face unlock and a fingerprint reader.

Redmi 6 has a dedicated microSD slot, and the phone supports dual VoLTE and dual standby.

Xiaomi says it has 29 per cent market share in India. One out of three phones sold in India is from Xiaomi. Xiaomi will introduce three phones: Redmi 6, Redmi 6A and Redmi 6 Pro. Redmi 6A will be an affordable phone, entry-level smartphone. Redmi 6 offers dual rear camera at a budget price. Redmi 6 Pro is the most expensive one in this list with a better processor and dual rear camera.

Redmi 6A gets a 5.45-inch HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and it runs MIUI 9, based on Android 8.1 Oreo. The phone is backed by a 3,000mAh battery. It sports a single 13 MP back camera along with a 5MP selfie shooter. 

Redmi 6 Pro will the company's first Redmi series device to feature a notched display. With its launch in India, Xiaomi will attempt to make the notch design standard across budget smartphones as well. Realme 2 is another budget device, that starts at Rs 8,990 and features a notch on top of the display. The phone gets a 5.84-inch screen with Full HD+ resolution.

Redmi Note 6 Pro price in India could start at around Rs 11,000 and go up to Rs 14,000 for the higher-end storage option. In China, the phone is available in three storage variants - 3GB RAM/32GB internal storage, 4GB RAM/32GB internal storage, and 4GB RAM/64GB internal storage. Prices are CNY 999 (approximately Rs 10,400), CNY 1,199 (approximately Rs 12,500), CNY 1,299 (approximately Rs 13,600) respectively.

Redmi 6 3GB RAM/32GB internal storage variant costs CNY 799 (approximately Rs 8,400) in China, while its 4GB RAM/64GB internal storage model is priced at CNY 999 (approximately Rs 10,400). In India, the price of the phone is expected to be close to Rs 10,000 or lower for the base storage model, though slightly higher than Redmi 6A.

Redmi 6A is expected to be the cheapest out of the three Redmi 6 series phones. The 2GB RAM and 16GB storage option of Redmi 6A was launched in China for CNY 599, which is around Rs 6,300 on conversion.  In India, we can expect a similar pricing. It remains to be seen of Xiaomi decides to launch other storage variants as well.
