NEW DELHI: A shootout broke out between sleuths of the special cell of Delhi Police and criminals in outer Delhi's Narela area on Wednesday morning. One of the criminals has been rushed to the hospital with a bullet injury.

DCP (special cell) Sanjeev Yadav confirmed the developments. "Three people have been arrested after exchange of fire," he said.

The criminals belong to Sunil Tajpuria gang and had shot dead a 19-year-old youth on August 20 this year. The youth was close to Delhi's most wanted gangster Jitender Gogi.

The arrested criminals have been identified as Manjit, Mahesh and Nitesh. Nitesh has sustained a gunshot injury and is undergoing treatment.

Two cops were also shot at but they had a narrow escape due to the bulletproof vest.
