MUMBAI: A Kiki challenge stunt on the footboard of a moving local train on July 29 backfired on three Dharavi residents, who were arrested on Tuesday. The challenge is to jump out of a moving vehicle, dance to the Kiki song while someone video-records the act, and then jumping back in. Surah Gautam (23), Abdul Yusuf (22) and Kanhaiya Kumar (23) were caught after RPF personnel registered an offence on seeing their video, uploaded on July 30 on YouTube. It was shot in a train at CSMT and had gone viral. The RPF registered an offence against the trio on August 6.

Senior RPF divisional security commissioner Sachin Bhalode told TOI, “The cyber police station at BKC helped us locate the place from where the video was uploaded. Police found that the video in which the three youngsters were found performing the challenge had been uploaded from their personal computers from their Dharavi homes. The team arrested the trio with the help of server addresses.” The trio told RPF officials that they performed and shot the video around 3.30pm on July 29, and uploaded it the next day.

Based on information by D V Singh, an official at CSTM checked the video, alerted RPF and registered an FIR. “Gautam, who did his BSc (IT), Yusuf and Kumar (electronics engineers), said they posted it to earn money,” officials said.
