COLVA: Colva police arrested Mubarak Khan, a resident of Sancoale, for firing a gun in the air at a restaurant after the manager refused him a drink at 3am on Monday.
The accused has been charged with attempt to murder (307), criminal intimidation (506) and Section 3 read with 25 of the Arms Act.

Police said that the restaurant manager Felix Fernandes lodged a complaint stating that a person entered the restaurant and started harassing the guard. The guard then alerted the manager and staff.

When Fernandes arrived, the accused demanded that he be served a drink. Since the restaurant was closed, the complainant refused the demand prompting the accused to brandish a gun. He then fired a round in the air.

The police have found the bullet shell, but are still searching for the gun. The accused has confessed he does not have an arms licence but the police said they will verify this with the collector.

The accused was nabbed at 5am in Colva after the police went through CCTV camera footage.

PI Filomeno Costa said the accused drove to Colva beach, but walked to the restaurant.
