Cowshed gutted in JSpur; man burnt alive

A man was burnt alive and two cows and five goats were charred to death when a fire broke out in a cowshed in Katara village in the Tirtol area, 35 km from here, on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Damodar Nayak.

Sources said that Nayak sustained eighty per cent burn injuries and was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) and later was referred to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack where he succumbed to his injuries. The incident happened when Nayak’s family were asleep. When they heard the painful shrieking of animals, Nayak rushed inside cowshed for rescuing cows and goats but he was also trapped in fire.
