L&T wins ₹2,095-cr. orders for Nagpur-Mumbai e-way

To also construct third bridge across Thane Creek

Engineering and construction major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has won work orders worth ₹2,654 crore from the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation Ltd (MSRDC) for the construction of a section of the six-lane Nagpur Mumbai Super Communication Expressway and of a third bridge across Thane Creek at Vashi.

The construction arm of L&T bagged a new order worth ₹2,095 crore for the construction of Package 10, one of the sections of the expressway, from Fatiwabad to Surala villages in Aurangabad, said a company statement.

This project is to be completed in 30 months and involves construction of 57.95 km of six-lane rigid pavement carriageway, 12.77 km of service roads, 6.4 km of cart tracks, three interchanges, four major bridges, five canal bridges,19 minor and canal bridges, 79 culverts, and 49 vehicular, pedestrian and cattle underpasses, said the statement.

The heavy civil infrastructure division of the construction arm has bagged an order worth ₹559 crore from MSRDC for construction of the Thane Creek Bridge-III. The project involves construction of a 1.837 km dual bridge across the Thane Creek channel connecting Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.

The first bridge across the channel has been closed to vehicles due to its poor condition, and the second bridge is saturated with traffic. The third bridge, once constructed, will provide seamless connectivity between Mumbai and Vashi, the statement said.
